Best Apples to Use for This Recipe

If trying to choose the best apple for this recipe, you want to be sure to use firmer ones that won’t get too soft when baked. Using two different types of apples is a great way to add more depth of flavor.

These apples hold up under baking without getting mushy: Empire, Idared, Northern Spy, Gravenstein, Newtown Pippin, Pink Lady, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Golden Delicious, and Royal Gala.
