Having a big healthy breakfast is great, but sometimes I’d rather relive my childhood and eat a big bowl of delicious sugary cereal. That’s when this mini donuts “cereal” comes in handy!
Now don’t get me wrong, it does at least have some chia seeds for some added nutrition, but there are definitely more nutritious cereals out there.
No, these mini donuts are more of a fun treat than a part of your typical balanced breakfast. But hey, you only have one life – why not live a little?
Mini Donuts “Cereal” Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 boxed cake mix
- 2 eggs (or egg replacer)
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup icing sugar (plus an additional 2-3 Tbsp water)
- Sprinkles
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix all ingredients together (except the icing sugar and last 2-3 Tbsp of water) to form a thick batter.
Pipe the batter in little donut shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 7-10 minutes.
In a bowl, combine icing sugar and the last bit of water to make a thin icing.
Let the “cereal” cool and then drizzle with icing and add sprinkles.
Enjoy your mini donuts “cereal” with your favourite milk or as a snack alone.
Do you want more sweet breakfast treats?
Along with my sugary cereal, I also like to relive my childhood glory with a good ol’ toaster pastry, like these Air Fryer Pumpkin Pastries.
Or if you’d prefer some actual donuts, I highly recommend these Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins. They’re not excessively sweet but they are super tasty!
