Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls

Servings:  6-8 cinnamon rolls

Prep: 30 minutes| Rising Time: 2 hours |Cook Time: 45 minutes | Total Time: 3 hours 15 minutes

Dough Ingredients:

2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

1 cup milk

2 TBS white sugar

2 eggs

â…“ cup butter, room temperature

2 ¼ cup flour

Filling Ingredients:

4 granny smith apples

2 TBS white sugar

6 TBS butter

2 cups brown sugar

2 TBS cinnamon

Icing Ingredients:

2 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup butter, softened

4 oz cream cheese, softened

Directions:

Warm your milk in the microwave for one minute.

In a mixing bowl to your stand mixer, combine milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 8-10 minutes until the yeast is bubbling.

Whisk eggs in a small bowl and add to the bubbled yeast mixture and whisk to combine.

Using your dough hook, add flour to the yeast mixture and mix for 2 -3 min until a shaggy dough has formed.

Add butter to dough and beat in the mixer for 8-10 min until a smooth dough ball has formed.

Cover dough and let sit for 2 hours or until dough has doubled in size.

While dough is rising, combine apples, white sugar, and cinnamon in a large fry pan.

Cook for 5-8 minutes until the apples have softened.

Add in brown sugar, mix until well incorporated, and then let cool

Once dough has doubled in size, remove from the bowl and roll out into a large rectangle.

Pour cooled cinnamon apple mixture onto dough and spread out.

Roll dough tightly and cut into 6-8 jumbo cinnamon rolls.

Place rolls in a baking pan, if any filling comes out in the rolling and cutting process just spread it over the tops of the rolls.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.

For the icing, combine powdered sugar, butter, and cream cheese to a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Let cinnamon rolls cool before adding icing to the tops.
