If you like Asian-inspired flavors with a bit of a kick, you have got to try this Spicy Cucumber Salad. Quick and easy to make (ready in about 15 minutes!), this viral TikTok side dish is beyond delicious!
Most of the grocery items are staples in my home (and probably in yours if you like Asian dishes). If you can’t find chili oil in your regular grocery store, you’re sure to find it in the local Asian supermarket.

Spicy Cucumber Salad
Ingredients
6 Mini Cucumbers
3 tsp Salt
1 tsp Garlic crushed
3 tsp Sugar
2 tsp Sesame seeds
2.5 tbsp Green onion
3 tsp Rice vinegar
3 tsp Chinese chili oil
1 tsp Sesame oil
1.5 tbsp Soy sauce
Instructions
You may not believe just how easy this salad is to make. If you don’t want to create cucumber spirals, you can simply thinly slice the cucumbers instead.
1. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, sugar, sesame seeds, and green onion.
2. Add rice vinegar, soy sauce, and both oils. Mix.
3. To make spirals, put each cucumber on two chopsticks and cut them at an angle but not all the way through. If you prefer, you can just slice them thinly.
4. Salt cucumbers and leave for 8-10 minutes. Rinse with water. This step is important if you want really crunchy cucumbers!
5. Pour marinade over cucumbers.
6. Serve

- 1.5 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic crushed
- 3 tsp Rice vinegar
- 3 tsp Chinese chili oil
- 3 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 2 tsp Sesame seeds
- 2.5 tbsp Green onion
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, sugar, sesame seeds and green onion.
- Add rice vinegar, soy sauce, and both oils. Mix.
- To make spirals put a cucumber on two chopsticks and cut the cucumbers at an angle but not all the way through. You can also use a decorative knife to create cucumber spirals.
- Salt cucumbers and leave for 8-12 minutes. Rinse with water.
- Pour marinade over cucumbers.
- Serve
