Red Velvet Bundt Cake

Take a boxed cake mix to the next level with this recipe for Red Velvet Bundt Cake! I love making bundt cakes because they’re so easy and always turn out so tasty. They certainly bring the wow factor to any celebration.

This red velvet cake is studded with chocolate chips and topped with a rich, creamy cream cheese frosting. Serve as is or with a scoop of ice cream. YUM!

Red Velvet Bundt Cake Recipe

Equipment Needed:

  • 9-inch bundt pan
  • Stand mixer (and a hand mixer if desired)
  • Wire cooling rack
  • Piping bag

Ingredients:

  • Pam (or other baking spray)
  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 3/4 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, room temperature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a 9-inch bundt pan with Pam baking spray; set aside.

Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat together all cake ingredients except for the chocolate chips.

Fold in the chocolate chips.

Pour the cake batter into the bundt pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow cake to cool completely before removing from pan, then place onto a wire rack.

Cream Cheese Frosting Directions

Using a stand mixer, beat all ingredients until combined and smooth.

Scoop the frosting into a disposable piping bag. Cut the tip off the piping bag.

Pipe the frosting onto the bundt cake.

Cut into slices and enjoy!
