Coffee Cake Banana Bread: The Best of Both Worlds!

Whenever we order from Starbucks, there are two items we almost always get – banana bread and coffee cake. They are absolute must-haves in this household!

But what if we could combine the two into some ultimate baked treat? That’s exactly what this recipe does!

This coffee cake banana bread recipe is everything you’d want it to be – moist banana flavour with that delicious crumbly coffee cake topping. Perfection in a loaf pan!

Coffee Cake Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 medium bananas, ripe
  • 2 Tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream

Crumb Topping

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted sweet cream butter, cubed

Coffee Cake Banana Bread Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F and grease two loaf pans.

Using a small bowl, mash the bananas, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.

In a stand mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs to the stand mixer one at a time until combined.

In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.

Gradually beat the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.

Beat in the sour cream until combined, and then the mashed banana mixture until combined.

Crumb Topping Directions

Using a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Using your fingers, work the butter into the dry mixture until a coarse crumb-like texture forms.

Baking Directions

Spoon the banana bread batter into the loaf pans.

Sprinkle the topping evenly over the batter.

Bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Allow to cool before removing and serving. Enjoy!
