These Christmas tree cookies are positively adorable and they are easy to make. They come with a fun surprise too - because of the way they are made, they can disassemble into pieces like a jigsaw puzzle. This recipe can easily be adapted to suit your tastes. Experiment with different extracts - almond, ginger, cinnamon for a variety of flavors. You can even use different food coloring colors to create both realistic and fantasy Christmas trees.
Place butter pieces in a bowl and melt it in the microwave for 1- 2 minutes. Pour in the condensed milk and vanilla extract. Simply stir with a whisk.
Add the flour in batches and knead into a soft, pourable dough. Set aside 2-3 tablespoons and color with cocoa brown. Add a little more flour if it is sticky with your hands. Color the dough in the bowl with matcha green. If the shade of the dough is a little pale, you can support it with food coloring. Pour in the flour and knead a dough that does not stick to your hands
Form the Christmas trees. Prepare 5 trunks for the Christmas tree with brown dough. Place them on baking paper. Divide the green dough into 5 pieces. Divide each piece into 10 equal pieces and roll them into balls. Shape the balls into elongated shapes. Arrange them in tiers around the trunk 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 pieces and make indentations with a cinnamon stick.
Bake the items in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes at 374°F. Cool the Christmas trees completely. If you hold them in your hands, they may break into pieces. To keep them intact, carefully transfer them to a serving board with a wide spatula. Decorate with stars, sprinkles and powdered sugar through a sieve.
