Ingredients

  • 36 Hershey's kisses
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 Tablespoon molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Start by unwrapping the chocolate kisses and placing on a paper plate. Set aside in a cool spot so they don't melt.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  • In another bowl, use a mixer on medium setting to cream together butter and sugar.  Beat in peanut butter and molasses, then egg and vanilla.
  • Continue to beat, adding in flour mixture gradually until a dough forms. Set aside beater and use your hands to form a ball of dough.
  • Chill the dough for at least a half-hour so that it's firm enough to work with.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Form small balls and place each on a cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes to desired doneness. Remove from oven and immediately press a Hershey's kiss into each one. (If you're doing Bear Paws or Dog Paws, press the kiss into the center and flatten the point, then add 4 chocolate chips for "toes".)
  • Remember, these cookies should not be piled up with other cookies because they're likely to melt into each other. Also, peanut butter tends to take over other flavors. Store separately.
